Furuno AIS FA-150

The FA150 is a shipborne Universal AIS (Automatic Identification System) Transponder that enables the exchange of navigation and ship data between vessels and coastal stations. It consists of a transponder unit and a compact display unit featuring a 4.5″ Silver Bright Display. The FA150’s design prioritizes simplicity and space-saving installation, incorporating a user-friendly ergonomic layout. The compact display unit provides essential information such as target ship’s CPA/TCPA, COG/SOG, and name on its basic scrolled LCD display. It offers interfaces for radar, ECDIS, and PC, allowing for future expansion with LAN and Long Range AIS operation capabilities.

The FA150 features a built-in GPS receiver for precise UTC synchronization and backup position fixing. It can receive heading information from a GPS compass (SC50/SC110) or gyrocompass. Moreover, the FA150 facilitates the retrofitting of existing Furuno radars, enabling AIS target view by adding the RP card to models like FR-15x5MK3, FR-21×5, and FAR-28×5 series. With its 4.5″ Silver Bright LCD display, the FA150 ensures excellent visibility and readability in various lighting conditions. It has a significant ship reporting capacity, capable of handling up to 2,000 reports per minute or 4,500 reports per minute on two channels. The FA150 also includes a TDMA transmitter with adjustable frequency (156.025 MHz – 162.025 MHz) and power levels (1W/2W/12.5W), offering both manual and automatic settings. The TDMA receiver operates on the same frequency range with two channels, while the DSC receiver focuses on CH70 (156.525 MHz).
